- Kalaha
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯
-
- Kalaha is an ancient Arabic game that has been played for over
- 7000 years.
-
- Rules
- ¯¯¯¯¯
- General Idea: There are 14 "hollows", 6 small ones in front of
- each player, and two large ones. The large one to the player's
- right belongs to that player. The aim is to get balls into your
- large hollow.
-
- Moves: You make a move by choosing one of the six hollows in
- front of you that contains some balls. These balls are then
- distributed in anticlockwise manner, one per hollow, missing out
- the opponent's big hollow should they get that far. The last of
- these balls to be placed is important.
-
- Extra Goes: If the last ball to be put down is in your own big
- hollow, you get an extra go (and continue getting extra goes
- until you miss your big hollow).
-
- Bonus Balls: If the last ball is placed in one of the hollows in
- front of you that was previously empty, then that ball plus any
- in the small hollow opposite become yours.
-
- End: The game ends when one player's 6 hollows are all empty. At
- that point any remaining in the opposite 6 hollows become the
- property of the player who made the last move.
